Henry American Legion Post #323
On September 28, 1920 a charter was granted to the Henry American Legion Post 323 in Henry, Illinois. World War I Veteran, Lt. John L. Jones served as the first commander of this group of 25 charter members. Meetings were held at various sites until the Joyce Building, located at 314 Edward St., was purchased.

Membership swelled to 225 shortly after World War II. In 1947, the Legion raised $5,000 over the Fourth of July. Ten years later, in 1957, the new legion hall, located at 303 Main St. was completed. This hall still serves its members and community today. Best known for sponsoring and organizing the Fourth of July activities, the Henry American Legion is always ready to lend a hand and feed an army of volunteers for various causes and activities in the Henry Area.
